That’s absolutely a real position - most major banks and lenders are hiring Loan Mods in huge numbers right now.
Having a background in mortgages is a major plus (and in some cases a requirement) to get one of those jobs. Basically, you work with homeowners to modify their mortgage into a program they can work with to avoid foreclosure. It’s pretty challenging and you will need a good understanding of mortgage programs, credit reports, underwriting criteria, and some awesome customer service skills.
Yes it is and it could be a very long term job if you are very knowledgeable about lending and mortgages.
